Claim for Farmland (Qualified Agricultural)
Exemption from some School Operating Taxes

If you are not sure you need to file this claim, or are qualified to file this claim, read the following questions to help make a determination:

  • Is the property vacant and classified by the assessor as agricultural? (Vacant property classified as agricultural is automatically exempt from some school taxes and the changes will be made on your next tax bill.)
  • Have you already filed the Principal Residence Exemption Affidavit (Form 2368) for this property?

If you answered “no” to both of these questions and the property is used primarily for agricultural purposes but is not classified as agricultural, complete this form and submit to the township treasurer by May 1.

If you answer yes” to either of these questions, you do NOT need to file this form. If your property has a residence or other buildings on it, the assessor may ask you to complete this form, even though it is classified agricultural.

Please note that both of these applications must be signed. Call the Treasurer’s office at 586-784-5200 and ask for an application, or print the forms found on this website.
